Route 66
For those who are fans of classic Americana and want to take a look into the past, then a road trip down Route 66 is for you. Route 66 begins in Chicago and courses through nine states with you ending the journey in California. Blue Ridge Parkway

The parkway goes through five regions on the eastern part of the United States, hitting areas like Afton, Blowing Rock, and Asheville. Two national parks are connected by the Blue Ridge Parkway. These parks are the Great Smokey Mountains and Shenandoah. You will definitely want to take several stops during your road trip to walk the trails in these parks.
The Outer Banks or Overseas Highway
Vacationers who prefer salty air and ocean spray will want to take a road trip to The Outer Banks or Overseas Highway. Probably made more popular in recent times by the tv series, The Outer Banks are barrier islands that shield the mainland of North Carolina from the Atlantic. You, however, can skip the drama from the show and simply enjoy the scenic views and checkout sand dunes, lighthouses, and piers as well as venture to Pea Island Wildlife Refuge.
You can head further south to the Overseas Highway in the Florida Keys. You will cross forty-two bridges if you take the entire route. Being in the Florida Keys, there are certain stops that you will want to make like Key West, Islamorada, Big Pine & Lower Keys, Marathon, and Key Largo.

Pacific Coast Highway
When you want to explore the western side of the United States, the Pacific Coast Highway offers you and your family the ideal road trip route. This route runs from San Francisco all the way to Los Angeles. Crossing five hundred and fifty miles, you can witness the splendor of California. You can, of course, begin your journey in Los Angeles and end in San Francisco. PhotoJeepers, however, recommends that you begin from the north. This will allow you to be in the lane that is closest to the ocean, and you definitely will want to take advantage of those views. You can make this trip in about three days.
